Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

No, we are a direct (private) pay clinic. We do not bill insurance and are considered out of network. We can offer a “super bill” which is a detailed receipt of the services provided during your visit. You can submit this to your insurance directly or through an app such as Reimbursify and request out-of-network reimbursement. Please check in advance if your plan accepts this and the process for submitting as we are not able to assist with this. Typically plans may reimburse 40-80% after your deductible is met, but this may vary depending on your specific insurances and we cannot guarantee that any specific plan would cover our services. There are some additional limitations for Medicare/Medicaid and a few other plans; please contact us for details.

How often will I need to be seen?

In general, after your initial appointment, Dr. Staley will meet with you every 4-6 weeks until we arrive on a treatment plan that is working. Once you are improving, and are stable on a medication, the frequency of appointments can be reduced to once every 8-12 weeks. For those patients who are stable, doing well and are not requiring any significant changes to their treatment plan, the appointment duration can be shortened to a 15 min medication check. This option is only available to patients after working with Dr. Staley for 6 months after a collaborative decision about whether shorter or less frequent appointments are appropriate for your condition. All patients must be seen at least once every 3 months to maintain active status and to receive refills. If you have not been seen in 6 months or more, we will consider your care ended at the clinic due to inactive status.

What is a preconception counseling consultation or a second opinion consultation?

Preconception consultations: Many women have questions about mental health prior to embarking on a pregnancy. It can be overwhelming and confusing to wonder what to expect “when you’re expecting” if you already have mental health symptoms or prior diagnoses. It can be equally daunting to wonder if you can continue taking medications that are helpful to you. Dr. Staley loves working with moms-to-be and providing the education and data you need to make an informed decision about your treatment. Dr. Staley is a subspecialist with fellowship level training in perinatal mental health. She will do a thorough assessment of your symptoms, history and current needs, and will provide evidence-based expert information and education on treatment options. This is a one time consultation, scheduled for 75 minutes. No new medications will be prescribed and you will follow-up with your existing doctor or team. This is a perfect option if you are planning pregnancy (or are currently pregnant), are taking mental health medications or are interested in medications/treatment, and would like a specialist to walk you through information on mental health, medications and pregnancy in a thorough and informative way without any pressure.

Second opinions are offered for general adult psychiatric issues as well, which is especially helpful for those with ongoing medical or neurological issues that are affecting their mental health and would like a second perspective on their diagnosis and treatment options from a specialist. This is a one-time in depth consultation, scheduled for 75 minutes. No new medications will be prescribed and you will follow up with your existing doctor/team. Dr. Staley will prepare a detailed report that will be shared with you and your team.

Are there conditions you don’t treat?

Yes. We are a small practice that focuses on women’s mental health and telemedicine. Telemedicine isn’t the best fit for all people or all conditions. We have a prescreening and consultation model to our practice that helps us make sure that we are able to provide the level of care recommended for you. The most common reason why telemedicine would not be the best fit is a condition that would benefit from a higher level of care, such as in-person care or more intensive care settings. While most conditions we treat are listed here, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions - we are happy to discuss what we offer. We do not provide autism evaluations, forensic/custody related evaluations, emotional support animal letters (ESA), or disability evaluations.

How do I get scheduled?

Honesty and transparency are our core values, and we want to ensure that you find the best fit for the care you need. For this reason, we provide a free personal phone call (15min) prior to your first appointment which will review your goals for treatment and a short intake form that Dr. Staley personally reviews. After our initial conversation, the next step is a consultation. During our first consultation meeting, a full assessment will be made and we will mutually decide on a treatment plan. While this process enables us to ensure the vast majority of clients scheduled for consultations are a great fit for our practice, very rarely, there might be circumstances where we are not able to provide the level of care recommended after our consultation.  For these cases, we will provide resources to help find a better fit for your needs and will fully refund the initial consultation. As part of our commitment to provide the highest standard of care, if there are ever significant changes in your clinical situation after we begin working together and a higher level of care is indicated to most safely treat you (example, a mental health crisis where hospitalization or in-person assessments is recommended), Dr Staley will assist with transferring your care to another provider.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

No, not at this time.

Please note completing the free phone screening and/or the consultation does NOT constitute a doctor patient relationship, no medications or treatment will be provided prior to completion of the consultation and acceptance to the practice, and completing either is not a guarantee of service in the future.
